Keep recognition in its proper role
Recognition can answer important qualification questions, but it does not replace recruitment, immigration checks or an assessment of workplace performance. Employers can begin by asking:
- What duties will the person actually perform?
- Is the occupation or professional title regulated in this federal state?
- Which authority is responsible, and has an application or decision already been issued?
- Does a decision identify substantial differences or a compensation measure?
- Which separate right-to-work or residence questions need authorised immigration advice?
Read the decision, not only the label
An official notice may distinguish parts of training, document experience and specify next steps. Ask the candidate’s permission before handling personal records, limit access internally and avoid requesting unrelated sensitive information.
A precise role description is useful to everyone: candidate, recognition authority and hiring team. It prevents a broad qualification question from becoming a vague barrier to employment.
